About the Workshop

Interested in ways to offset your home rehab costs?

Learn how historic rehabilitation tax credits can significantly reduce the overall expense of high-dollar investments in eligible historic properties, from a new roof to updated bathrooms, mechanical systems and more. How can you determine your eligibility? What kinds of projects qualify, and how do you navigate this process? Foreland and Worth Preserving are cohosting a free, in-person workshop to give you clarity about this invaluable resource for owners of historic properties in the Empire State.

Speakers include Kate Wood, principal of Worth Preserving, and Ashley Barrett, Historic Site Restoration Coordinator, NYS Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation.

Kate Wood is an award-winning preservationist, real estate broker, author, and historic rehabilitation strategist whose mission is to support owners and their teams on projects that bring their homes into the 21st century while honoring the character that makes them unique. Years of experience and relationships underpin her success in matching people with properties, skilled trades, historic tax credits and other resources to plan and perform elevated rehabilitation projects.

Ashley Barrett joined the New York State Historic Preservation Office in June 2024. Ashley has experience with state and federal compliance reviews, and both commercial and residential historic rehab tax credit programs here in New York and in Georgia.
