Foreland Presents: Greater Valley Artist: Nina Grubin

On view: 3/4- 5/31, 2026 Open Wed - Sun, 9am-2pm

Foreland presents Chatham-based artist Nina Grubin, whose layered, hand-sewn compositions operate at the intersection of painting, embroidery, and appliqué. Driven by a decades-long yoga practice, her work merges philosophical and visual ideas to express the quiet exuberance of embodiment. Through transparency and juxtaposed patterns, Grubin creates dynamic structures that invoke an animating energy. Serpentine shapes and subtle asymmetries suggest a beauty found in awkwardness, serving as a counterpoint to the quest for balance. These pieces hold contradictions—soft yet exacting, fragile yet bold—to reveal the layered nature of perception as something felt, seen, and stitched into form.
